600 — The Million Friends Dog Sanctuary

600 – The Million Friends Dog Sanctuary is a documentary from Orange Planet Pictures exploring the extraordinary work of Romanian animal welfare campaigner Cristina Lapis.

Best known for founding the Libearty Bear Sanctuary, Cristina has also dedicated her life to rescuing and protecting Romania’s abandoned street dogs through the Millions of Friends Association.

The film focuses on the Million Friends Dog Sanctuary, a refuge that provides shelter, veterinary care and rehabilitation for hundreds of dogs that have been abandoned, injured or left to survive on the streets.

Romania has one of Europe’s largest stray dog populations, creating enormous challenges for animal welfare organisations attempting to rescue and rehome these animals. Through daily care, adoption programmes and international support networks, Cristina and her team work tirelessly to give these dogs a chance at a safer life.

600 offers a powerful and honest look at the emotional and financial pressures involved in running a large animal rescue operation. It reveals the determination required to care for so many vulnerable animals while continuing to campaign for better treatment of dogs across the region.

Above all, the film highlights Cristina Lapis’s extraordinary commitment to animals — a woman whose life has been devoted entirely to their protection.
